Creating God-Utterances on Statue-making and Iconometry

偶像崇拜、宗教迷信、品牌迷思、拜物、政治操作抑是商品炒作,以上所產生的現象,如同造神一般的過度包裝,在高於本質的形態下,堆疊出輝煌的外貌,並以《佛說造像量度經》與商品包裝作為框架,且將田野調查台灣與大陸各廟宇中的著名神像作為依據,統整所有資料後,經過比對校正,再以《再造神》的行為創造出具詼諧的外貌與古典氣息的形象。

在我成長的環境中,從小就跟著大人進入廟宇,面對威嚴聳立的神像跪拜,拿著香火祈求私慾,但我從來也不知道人們相信的原由從何而來,當我年長後開始反思宗教信仰與迷信的迷思時,恰巧與政治上的造神運動、商業品牌的炒作有不謀而合的相似;因此以《佛說造像量度經》規範下製造出的聖像與經過設計印刷的商業包裝紙箱作為呼應,營造出畫面前是一座座宗教感濃厚的神像,當觀賞到作品背後卻看到此佛像也只是商品包裝盒中的一件商業產物。

The phenomena such as idolatry ,superstition, brand myth ,fetishism, political, or commodity hype ,are kind of an elevation to an unreal level, which purposely exaggerates the effect. the artist uses utterances on Image-making and Iconometry and packaging as the frame and collects all the data, which is a survey of famous god statues in Taiwan and China, to create “making into a god again", which has a classical image.

When I was little , I often went to the temple with adults. We worshiped god statues and parted for what we wanted . But I didn’t know the reason why we believed in gods. As I grew up . I start to be against religion and superstition , which tracks with the opposition to political apotheosis and commodity hype at that time . Thus, comparing the god statues according to the principles of Utterances on Image-making and Iconometry to the packaging cartons , I intend to implicate the god statue is also a commodity as viewers see the back of the statue .
